SMT Basic Training
AVLE Soldering License Module 2
The second module of the training as a Specialist for Soldering Technology in accordance with guideline AVLE1510 expands the basic knowledge from module 1 to include the fundamentals of hand soldering of surface-mounted components (SMD) on printed circuit boards. The participants learn the relationships between the PCB, components and soldering process and thus acquire a sound knowledge of the process and the process windows for hand-guided soldering of simple SMDs.
Knowledge imparted in Module 2:
- Basics of manual soldering in SMT (building on module 1!)
- Contact soldering in SMT, requirements for soldering stations and tips
- Handling temperature-sensitive components
- Hand-guided reflow process (hot gas, infrared, hybrid)
- Hand-held reflow devices, solder paste dispensers
- Solder pastes and their handling
- Soldering and desoldering of two-pole components up to a minimum of 0603
- Soldering and desoldering of MELF and D2PAK components
- Soldering and desoldering SO and SOT components with gull-wing connections with pitch > 0.8 mm
- Top list of manual soldering problems in SMT
- SMT solder joint acceptance criteria according to IPC-A-610
- Component knowledge SMT components
Training duration:
- Two days (18 teaching units, including exam)
Includes:
- Printed personal training documents
- Training material for practical soldering exercises
- Examination materials
- AVLE qualification certificate module 2 after passing the final exam in theory and practice
- AVLE Soldering License or entry of the completed module
Module 2 provides basic knowledge required for modules 3 and 4.
Entry requirements:
- Successful completion of module 1 is recommended for module 2.
- Alternatively: Solid professional experience in the field of hand soldering technology.
- In your own interest, we recommend that you have your eyesight checked by means of an eye test before starting the course. You must bring any necessary visual aids with you.
Important note:
Lateral entrants can take the examination for module 2, but module 2 does not cover the complete examination material, which also includes basic knowledge of the important soldering basics from module 1.
Recertification
- The validity of the AVLE qualification certificates in modules 1–4 is three years from the date of the examination.
- Modules 1–3 are considered together; the expiration date of the last module completed counts.
- An extension of a further three years can be achieved by joint recertification or by completing a further module of modules 1–3 for the first time, if not already available.
- The recertification examination must be completed no later than 90 days after the expiration date, otherwise the qualification certificates expire and must be reacquired.
