SMT Advanced Training
AVLE Soldering License Module 3:
The third module of the training as a Specialist in Soldering Technology in accordance with guideline AVLE1510 builds on the basic knowledge of SMT acquired in module 2 and teaches the special requirements for hand soldering very small chip components down to size 01005 and high-pole fine-pitch SMDs on printed circuit boards with the aid of stereo microscopes.
Knowledge imparted in module 3:
- Special requirements for soldering very small components (building on Module 2!)
- Special requirements for soldering high-pole fine-pitch components
- Process window for soldering, temperature control
- Moisture sensitivity of components and PCBs
- Expansion of components and printed circuit boards
- Soldering workstation for the smallest components and high-pole fine-pitch components
- Hand tools and aids
- Special tool care when using the finest soldering tips
- Soldering process for soldering the smallest components, solder application and dosing
- Soldering processes for soldering high-pole fine-pitch components, wave soldering
- Applying and correctly removing flux
- SMT component knowledge (excerpt)
- Practical work under stereo vision systems
- Soldering and desoldering chip components down to size 01005
- Soldering and desoldering PQFP with 0.4 mm - 0.65 mm pitch
- Soldering and desoldering of smallest resistor networks
- Soldering and desoldering of fine-pitch SO components
Training duration:
- Two days (18 teaching units, including exam)
Includes:
- Printed personal training documents
- Training material for practical soldering exercises
- Examination materials
- AVLE qualification certificate module 3 after passing the final exam in theory and practice
- AVLE Soldering License or entry of the completed module
Entry requirements:
- Successful completion of modules 1 + 2 is recommended for module 3.
- Practical experience in soldering SMT components is a mandatory requirement.
- Alternatively: Solid professional experience in the field of manual soldering of SMT components.
Important note:
Lateral entrants can take the examination for module 3, but module 3 does not cover the complete theoretical examination material, which also includes some of the important basic knowledge from modules 1 + 2.
In your own interest, we recommend that you have your eyesight tested before starting the course.
Recertification
- The validity of the AVLE qualification certificates in modules 1–4 is three years from the date of the examination.
- Modules 1–3 are considered together; the expiration date of the last module completed counts.
- An extension of a further three years can be achieved by joint recertification or by completing a further module of modules 1–3 for the first time, if not already available.
- The recertification examination must be completed no later than 90 days after the expiration date, otherwise the qualification certificates expire and must be reacquired.
