Knowledge imparted in module 6:

  • Structure of printed circuit boards, materials and surfaces
  • Requirements for PCBs and components, their process windows and important specification parameters for soldering
  • Properties of lead-free solder materials and their effects on selective soldering
  • Classification and mode of action of fluxes
  • Design of selective soldering systems
  • Process parameters and their determination for fluxing, preheating and soldering
  • Methods and measuring equipment for process monitoring
  • Soldering faults, their analysis, assessment and countermeasures
  • System checks on selective soldering systems in preparation for production
  • Setting and checking flux, preheating and soldering parameters in practice
  • Soldering test assemblies with different parameters and checking the effects on the soldering result
  • Evaluation of the soldering results according to the current IPC-A-610

Includes:

  • Printed personal training documents
  • Examination documents
  • AVLE qualification certificate module 6 after passing the final theory exam
  • AVLE Soldering License or entry of the completed module

Entry requirements:

Basic knowledge of industrial electronics production is recommended.

Note:

This module is usually offered by the training centers in combination with module 5 (wave soldering) due to the close relationship. Please note the date descriptions in the AVLE training calendar!
